NAZARENE MISSION FAST FACTS
As of February 2004, the Church of the Nazarene has shown the JESUS Film to 28.5 million people; 14.1 percent (4 million) of those viewing accepted Christ, and 37 percent of the new converts have been involved in initial follow-up (discipleship).
There are 209 Nazarenes in Volunteer Service (NIVS), 220 Nazarenes On Call (NOC), and 25 Tentmakers and 100 Youth in Mission participants ministering around the world for the Church of the Nazarene.
The Church of the Nazarene is third among denominations in the number of short-term missionaries (2 weeks - 2 years); seventh in the number of missionaries; and third with presence in various world areas." - Mission Handbook, Wheaton College
The Church of the Nazarene ministers in more than 150 languages and dialects and provides literature in 95 of these languages
The Church of the Nazarene entered the countries of Guinea Bissau and Sierra Leone in 2004
In 2003, the Church of the Nazarene sent 396 Work & Witness teams, with a total of 6,131 participants. This represents an estimated 235 years of labor.
The two districts with the largest membership in the Church of the Nazarene are the Korea National District with 29,907 members and the Guatemala North Verapaz District with 28,306 members.
World Mission Broadcast ministers by radio, television, and Internet with 117 programs in 82 countries in 40 languages and dialects. Coordinated through six regional communication centers, radio continues to be the most widely used medium of World Mission Broadcast to "Reach the Unreached."
In 2003, approximately 65,000 children in over 70 countries are being affected by Child Development Ministries through training, education, and feeding.
The Church of the Nazarene has 182 Compassionate Ministries Centers and 1,119 Good Samaritan Churches in the United States and Canada to help care for underprivileged and hurting people.
Alabaster funds 4 projects every week.
In 2003, Nazarene sent more than 27,000 Crisis Care Kits.
It takes approximately $55,000 per year, or $151 per day, to keep a missionary on the field; this includes the missionary's assignment, language school, child education, medical plan, and daily living expenses.
45 percent of Nazarene churches in the U.S.A. and 20 percent in Canada overpaid their World Evangelism Fund in 2003 for an overpayment of U.S. $1,449,451 to help enter new fields
